Woman arrested after 2-year-old son left in vehicle overnight
A Westminster woman was arrested Saturday after her 2-year-old son was left inside a vehicle in subzero temperatures overnight.
Officers were called to search for a 2013 green Ford Fusion near the 10000 block of north Washington Street at about 10:40 a.m. in reference to a possible accident Friday night where a mother had left a child in car.
At 12 p.m., Thornton Police found the snow covered vehicle at a strip mall parking spot in the 900 block of East 120th Avenue.
The toddler was found inside suffering from hypothermia and frostbite, and was taken to an area hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
The boy’s mother, 26-year-old Nicole Carmon, was arrested for investigation of felony child abuse.
Carmon was arrested on a felony child abuse charge. Her son was taken to a hospital after officers found him in a parking lot in the 900 block of East 120th Avenue.
The boy was “in a state of severe hypothermia” but was conscious, Barnes said. “The car was blanketed with snow,” he said. “There was no way of seeing what was inside.”
